Data Description
Synthetic Aperture Radar (restricted) -
The CLASS inventory of Synthetic Aperture Radar data includes imagery of global and repetitive observations of the environment. Imagery is obtained by the ERS-1, ERS-2 and RADARSAT-1 satellites, which are flown in sun-synchronous, polar orbits. Imaging is acquired
irrespective of weather conditions. The SAR radar sensor is a microwave instrument that sends pulsed signals to the Earth and processes the received reflected pulses. Data are processed at one of four sites: Fairbanks, USA; Gatineau, Canada; Tromso, Norway; or West Freugh, UK. Data are in
a variety of Beam Mode/Positions and product types (geo-coded or geo-referenced) on various dates.
