Data DescriptionVIIRS Reprocessed SDR Products (RPVIIRSSDR) - The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) is a scanning radiometer that collects radiometric measurements of the land, atmosphere, cryosphere, and oceans, ranging from visible to infrared spectral region. Sensor Data Records (SDRs) from VIIRS are the calibrated and geolocated radiance/brightness temperature and reflectance data produced from the Raw Data Records (RDRs). This data family includes 22 reprocessed VIIRS SDRs from Suomi NPP: 16 moderate-resolution, narrow-spectral-band products at 750 meters resolution, five imaging-resolution, narrow-spectral-band products at 375 meters resolution, and one Day-Night Band imaging broadband product at 750 meters resolution. This data family includes recalibrated and reprocessed version 2 (RP2) SDRs which were generated using consistent calibration algorithms that removed artificial jumps in temporal data trends caused by operational calibration updates, instrument anomalies, contamination from anomaly views of the environment or spacecraft, and other causes. The radiometric stability and accuracy, as well as the geolocation accuracy of the reprocessed SDRs were validated and verified against other observations whenever such data were available. VIIRS SDRs are used as input to produce many Environmental Data Records (EDR). VIIRS SDR data obtained from the NOAA Comprehensive Large Array-Data Stewardship System (CLASS) are distributed as aggregated 5.6-minute files consisting of four granules in the Hierarchical Data Format v.5 (HDF5) with metadata attributes included.
